over her head

Barbara Olsen

Barbara Olson says "I am a story teller and collage art is now the means I use to express myself. I am a self-taught artist and my art is inspired by words, proverbs, color, and life around me. Early in my career I painted in oil, telling stories on canvas about people who had inspired me in one way or another. Since then my work has taken a more whimsical turn.

Now I am more interested in combinations of materials, words and sayings that find their way into my mixed media art. I search for old bits of history to combine with the new. Found objects and papers as well as new materials all combine to tell the story. "

She was in over her head ...

"I decided to make another larger piece of In over her head. I had fun making it and I love all the colors. This piece is probably a big part of me as I often get "in over MY head" with projects."

Mixed media collage.
